Tony Davies-Colley Director
Tony has been a Director of BDX (previously Blackdog Steelworks), since the company was incorporated in 2007. Tony’s background is in farming and forestry. This evolved into building a production radiata sawmill and installing a high tech, high speed production small-log line, one of the first in New Zealand. After selling the business in 2006, Tony has been involved in several start-up companies in diverse fields such as automation, engineering, marine as well as his own interests in property development, dairy farming and forestry.
Clare Davies-Colley Director
Clare (BCA, FCA) became a Director of the company in 2015. Clare is a Chartered Accountant with a background in business management and a particular interest in strategy and finance. Clare has been involved in governance and management of a wide range of businesses in sectors ranging from retail to property development and community organisations.
Johnny Hirst General Manager
Johnny joined BDX in 2018, having been involved in sales and operations of an industrial engineering company in Auckland. Johnny is a qualified mechanical fitter with a wealth of experience in industrial engineering projects. Apart from managing large projects onsite for our industrial customers, Johnny is the person to call for enquiries for Hiresafe rental lifting equipment, truck maintenance and our MIMICO excavator agency.
Nicholas Schuster Operations Manager
Nicholas started with BDX in 2012 and has recently taken over the role of Operations Manager of engineering. With teams continually revolving around client sites, this is a pivotal role in ensuring preparation, fabrication and painting are completed to the quality and timeframes demanded by the onsite jobs.
