Tony Davies-Colley Director

Tony has been a Director of BDX (previously Blackdog Steelworks), since the company was incorporated in 2007. Tony’s background is in farming and forestry. This evolved into building a production radiata sawmill and installing a high tech, high speed production small-log line, one of the first in New Zealand. After selling the business in 2006, Tony has been involved in several start-up companies in diverse fields such as automation, engineering, marine as well as his own interests in property development, dairy farming and forestry.

Clare Davies-Colley Director

Clare (BCA, FCA) became a Director of the company in 2015. Clare is a Chartered Accountant with a background in business management and a particular interest in strategy and finance. Clare has been involved in governance and management of a wide range of businesses in sectors ranging from retail to property development and community organisations.

Ajit Balasingham General Manager

Ajit joined the BDX Group as General Manager in 2016. He is a Director of United Infrastructure Ltd, a business involved in commercial and industrial property development along with quarry development. Ajit also worked for 13 years in the transport industry, firstly asManaging Director of United Carriers Ltd, a Logistics and Transport Company, and then successfully taking joint ownership of the company with others through a management buyout. He successfully exited out of the company in 2008. Ajit is a Chartered Accountant by profession and is involved in the community as Chairman of Northland Rugby Union, board member for Alzheimer Society Northland and Member of Rotary Club of Whangarei Sunrise.

Johnny Hirst Project Manager

Johnny joined BDX in 2108, having been involved in sales and operations of an industrial engineering company in Auckland. Johnny is a qualified mechanical fitter with a wealth of experience in industrial engineering projects. Apart from managing large projects onsite for our industrial customers, Johnny is the person to call for enquiries for Hiresafe rental lifting equipment, truck maintenance and our MIMICO excavator agency.

Nick Schuster Workshop Manager

Nick started with BDX in 2012 and has recently taken over the role of managing the engineering workshop. With teams continually revolving around client sites, this is a pivotal role in ensuring preparation, fabrication and painting are completed to the quality and timeframes demanded by the onsite jobs.
