BDX Group was established as a result of three well known and robust local companies joining forces: Blackdog Steelworks, Blasco Engineering and Westpoint Management. We are now uniquely positioned to offer a wider range of services than any other engineering company in Northland.

Our expert teams specialise in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across all industries, supported by plant and contract maintenance, steel fabrication, mechanical engineering, truck and machinery servicing, civil construction, safety solutions and project management expertise. With diversity of skills we can offer more opportunities for staff to develop.

With our agile and mobile workforce, we pride ourselves on taking services to our customers, in a range of industries including forestry and wood processing, shipping and marine, manufacturing, quarrying and infrastructure development.

We have a strong history here in Northland, with the Blackdog Steelworks brand established in 2007 to provide contract engineering services to Northland. In 2009 the company expanded into the manufacturing of trailer catamarans (Blackdog Cats) and with both arms of the business proving successful, a decision was made in 2016 to sell Blackdog Cat Ltd, and focus on our core strength of industrial engineering and maintenance.

Meanwhile, local companies Blasco Engineering and Westpoint Management were also building in reputation and expertise, and in early 2018, a decision was made to bring together the three teams of Blackdog Steelworks, Blasco Engineering and Westpoint Management under one roof.
